Home > About Us

Global Fruit Brokers Ltd. is located in the beautiful Creston Valley, British Columbia, Canada. Creston is a fruit growing and farming community, situated in South Eastern British Columbia, located on the 49th Parallel.

Historically, Creston has been famous for its MacIntosh apples. Now the Lapin and Sweetheart cherries have taken precedence over the apple industry. Creston's superior quality cherries are being shipped worldwide.

Reg Mann of Global Fruit Brokers Ltd. recognized the need for a local broker to service the needs of BC fruit producers. With his experience as an orchardist - growing cherries and peaches, and his past 25 years of business experience in the Insurance Brokerage Industry, he understands the brokering needs of the grower and fulfilling the requirements of the importer. Working as Operations Manager packing cherries for Kootenay Valley Cherries has helped him understand the intricate need for detail of fruit packing and shipping for the grower and importer. With increasing business growth, Reg has taken on business partner, Andre Bailey, to help service the needs of his growing customer base.

Home > Our Specialty - Cherries

Sweet cherries mature in the Creston Valley around August 1st, and go into September, with varieties of:

Lapins - The fruit is large, highly split-resistant and a mahogany-red color at maturity. This is a superior product that is shipped worldwide. A high quality cherry.

Skeenas - A self fertile, reasonably split resistant, extremely productive variety. The
fruit is black, large, and very firm, with thick stems.

Sweethearts - A large bright red cherry maturing one week after Lapins. The sweethearts are a firm fruit that handles very well. This is another extremely popular export cherry.

Staccato - An extremely late maturing variety, about 7 days after Sweetheart. The fruit are very firm, large, sweet, and attractive. This cherry is an up and coming export cherry, soon to be popular with our importers.

These cherries are maturing in this order. 300+ acres are being grown in the Creston Valley.

The Okanagan Valley is the fruit basket of British Columbia. This area is in the South Centre of British Columbia, also on the 49th Parallel, situated close to the Creston Valley and also serviced by Global Fruit Brokers. The Okanagan Valley has cherries of an earlier variety that mature around June 25th. Lapins, Sweethearts and Staccatos are the later variety maturing throughout the months of July and August.
